- An award-winning non-profit community/amateur theatre company based in Brixham, specialising in newly written and researched shows about historical events and legends, primarily those of South Devon.
We were founded in the winter of 2005-6, and have been steadily growing since then, now performing four plays a year, as well as winning the Torbay Together “Creativity In The Community” award in 2010, and being filmed for national BBC Television in the summer of 2012.
With our performances, we aim to bring theatre to new community venues, within reach of those who may not always be able to attend traditional theatres, either for reasons of location or cost, as well as bringing to life the history and mythology of Devon.
As a group we aim to be an active part of our local community, and support both the community, and our members, as much as is possible through theatre and performing arts.
Our membership is always open to people wishing to get involved in theatre, and experience is not valued nearly so much as enthusiasm and a real desire to create a good performance as part of a team of likeminded people. Our membership ranges between complete beginners, through to those with professional experience, who all work together to create our shows.
In addition to gaining valuable theatre experience, members also gain the opportunity to extend their acting experience; we are often approached by film and TV companies looking for extras or supporting cast (this has included the BBC, Disney and Sky), or we produce additional small projects & appearances for the local community, and photos for acting portfolios can be arranged for active members free of charge.
